FSCC Visits the Dover-Capital City Rotary

‘Dover-Capital City Rotary and The First State Corvette Club meet’

Laurence Kirby, President of The Dover-Capital City Rotary Club (above left) welcomes Warren Hensley of The First State Corvette Club, guest speaker, to the Rotary’s August 1 meeting. Examining the commonalities of two seemingly very different groups revealed the spirit of community service thrives within each. Mr. Hensley spoke about the history of the Corvette Club’s various events, designed to support local charitable needs. Specifically, Mr. Hensley explained the club’s annual Wheels and Wine Car Show and Festival held at the Pizzadili Winery in Felton, Delaware the club’s primary event of the year.

Stressing the need to support military veterans, Mr. Hensley explained the net proceeds from this event will benefit The Home of The Brave in Milford, Delaware. In quoting Gordon English, President of FSCC, he said, “We put our efforts into helping The Home of The Brave. These efforts reflect the mantra which states, ‘No man or woman left behind does not end on the battlefield.’ Mr. English said, “The Home of The Brave is a place where homeless women and men who bravely served our country can receive valuable services to assist them in becoming self sufficient.”

The Wheels and Wine car show and festival will be held on September 8, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a rain date of September 15. Vendors, crafters and more will be on hand along with live music and a DJ. The local SPCA will hold an Adopt A Pet event as well. Admission to the public is free.
